Features

Keyboard layout tools for everyday typing

Auto-correction

Type a word and hit space. If it came out in the wrong layout, Boomkey rewrites it on the spot. Auto-correction is in beta and covers English ↔ Ukrainian, Belarusian, Hebrew, and Russian.

Hotkey & last word

Double-tap Shift, or set your own shortcut, to convert selected text between any two installed layouts: a word, a sentence, or a whole paragraph. Your clipboard is restored right after. Nothing selected? It fixes the last word you typed.

Language switch hotkey

Set your own shortcut to jump straight to your next keyboard layout, no reaching for the menu bar. Any combo works — even modifier-only ones macOS won’t let you set, like ⌘ Cmd + Shift. Unlike the correction hotkey, this one works with every input source installed on your Mac, IME and CJK included.

Per-app rules & exceptions

Turn Boomkey off or pin a layout in specific apps, and keep a list of words it should never touch. Pinning works with any installed layout or IME, CJK included. Terminals and code editors are off out of the box.

Languages & layouts

The hotkey converts between any pair of installed alphabetic layouts: Latin (English, German, French, Polish, Spanish and ~55 more), Cyrillic (Ukrainian, Belarusian, Serbian and others), Greek, Hebrew, Arabic, Georgian, Armenian, and Korean.

Changelog

What's new

v1.2.0StableOctober 7, 2026
  • New Settings look: a native sidebar, lighter cards and text that's easier to read in dark mode. The layout switch shortcut now comes first in Languages.
  • When Boomkey switches your layout, a small pill on screen shows which one is on. You can turn it off in Languages.
  • The menu bar popup shows how many words were fixed this week and roughly how much time that saved.
  • Onboarding got a clearer welcome screen and a smoother animation, and you can open it again from About - Show Setup Guide.
  • Boomkey shows up in the Dock while Settings is open, so ⌘Tab can find it.
  • Double-shift no longer leaves a word highlighted or changes the word next to your selection, and tells you when a word is in your exceptions.
  • Fixed corrections in Google Docs, a word sometimes getting typed twice, and the Activate button not opening the license tab.
  • On macOS 27, permission instructions use the new "Device Control and Data Access" name.
