This privacy policy applies to the version of Boomkey distributed through the Mac App Store. For the version downloaded directly from our website, see our main Privacy Policy.
Data Controller: Poteam. Contact: [email protected].
Overview
Boomkey is a macOS keyboard layout corrector. Privacy is a core design principle: the application processes all text locally on your Mac and does not transmit keystrokes, typed content, or usage data to any server we operate.
Data We Do Not Collect
Boomkey itself does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. Specifically:
- No keystrokes are logged or recorded
- No text content is stored beyond the in-memory current-word buffer
- No analytics, crash reporting, or telemetry is collected by the app
- No user accounts are required
- No advertising or tracking identifiers are used
Accessibility Permission
Boomkey requires the macOS Accessibility permission to read keyboard input and perform text corrections. This permission is used solely for the application's core functionality. The typing buffer holds only the current word and is cleared after each correction.
Clipboard
When using hotkey mode (double Shift), Boomkey temporarily uses the system clipboard to perform text replacement. Your original clipboard content is automatically restored after the correction completes.
Purchases and Payment Data
The App Store version is sold and distributed by Apple through the Mac App Store. Apple handles all checkout, payment processing, billing, tax collection, and any in-app purchases. Apple is the seller of record for these transactions.
We do not receive or store your name, billing address, email address, or payment method details for App Store purchases. Apple provides us only with aggregate, non-identifying sales and download reports through App Store Connect. Apple's handling of your data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
App Analytics
If you have opted in to share analytics with developers in macOS (System Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements → Share with App Developers), Apple may provide us with aggregate, anonymized usage and crash statistics through App Store Connect. This is controlled entirely by your Apple settings, contains no personal identifiers, and is never collected by the app itself.
Updates
The App Store version is updated through the Mac App Store. The application does not contact our servers to check for or download updates.
Third-Party Services
The App Store version of Boomkey relies on a single third party:
- Apple - distribution, app review, payments, billing, tax, and optional App Analytics
We do not use any analytics, advertising, or behavioral-tracking services of our own.
Data Retention
We hold no personal data about App Store customers. If you contact us for support, we retain your correspondence (including your email address) only as long as needed to resolve your request and to meet legal obligations.
Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict processing. To exercise these rights for any data we hold, contact us via the support page. For purchase and billing data held by Apple, contact Apple directly using the procedures in Apple's privacy policy.
International Transfers
Apple may process purchase data outside your country of residence. Apple maintains appropriate safeguards for such transfers, as described in its privacy policy.
Children
Boomkey is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in the application or legal requirements. The effective date above will be updated when we do so.
